The third edition of the EOSC Winter School will take place in Nice, France from 27 to 29 January 2026, with a co-located closed meeting of the EOSC Federation Build-up Group scheduled for 26-27 January. The event is organised by EOSC Association, supported by EOSC Gravity.
The Winter School is designed to deepen collaboration across the wider EOSC community and foster alignment with the Federation’s build-up process. It aims to bring together a broad range of stakeholders, from service providers and research infrastructures to node coordinators and project consortia, to accelerate onboarding, promote interoperability, and shape future collaboration.
Specifically, the event offers:
A Stakeholder Brokerage Event (27 January): A matchmaking session connecting resource providers with first-wave EOSC Nodes and the Federation Build-up Group. This is the place to pitch services, repositories or tools for potential onboarding.
Thematic Tracks (28–29 January): Interactive sessions focused on federating capabilities, resource sharing, interoperability, capacity building and training. These tracks offer deep dives into technical, organisational and governance challenges for the Federation.
Networking opportunities: evenings and informal slots provide time to forge alliances, discuss joint proposals (e.g. under EOSC Gravity’s preparatory and inter-project grants), and build the social glue necessary for a sustainable research infrastructure community.
The EOSC Winter School 2026 offers a unique confluence of opportunity: a chance to network, influence, onboard services, and align future projects with the pan-European EOSC ecosystem. Particularly for those working at the intersection of environmental science, data infrastructure and digital innovation, it represents a strategic moment to engage with broader European data infrastructure and shape what open science will look like in the next decade.
