The Digital Ocean Forum 2024 is a high-level hybrid event under the Belgian presidency of the EU Council on June 13, 2024, from 10:00-16:30 at the Palace of the Academies, Brussels. The event is open to the public.
President von der Leyen announced at the One Ocean Summit in Brest, February 2022, that the EU would create a Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) by the end of 2024 under the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.
The European Digital Twin of the Ocean will be a digital hub, integrating knowledge across disciplines. It aims to provide Ocean communities, citizens, scientists, and policymakers with actionable insights for sustainable ocean management.
The Digital Ocean Forum 2024 will unveil the EU DTO prototype and demonstrate its role in supporting the blue economy, ocean resource management, and the Green Deal, while contributing to the UN Decade of Science for Sustainable Development.
The event will gather experts, stakeholders, policymakers, and citizens to co-design the European Digital Twin of the Ocean.
